Maps on iOS can get even better with augmented reality

We’ve talked a little about ARKit, augmented reality tools for developers presented by Apple along with iOS 11, and some videos show a little bit what content creators are preparing for a brief future. In addition to games for apps that can be very useful for sales, now we also have something that can improve Maps.

Although we are still far from seeing the launch of Apple’s AR resources to users around the world, there are already high expectations for ARKit. The technology will not require additional hardware, and there are a lot of developers creating and experimenting with new applications.

One of them was published by developer Andrew Hart, who shared two videos on Twitter featuring some of his work with ARKit and CoreLocation. The videos show pictures of how the navigation could be, with a walking experience on the map being guided with lines and arrows around it. It’s like Google Street View, but … well, actually augmented.

ARKit will not be available to user devices until Apple releases iOS 11, but of course, developers are already rushing to get everything done. So when Apple gives the green light, applications will be available for download.

Until then, you can play around with this app that simulates augmented reality on iOS, putting fun 3D images on your photos and videos.
