Although the Call of Duty franchise is Activision’s most successful annual series, the publisher is in no hurry to bring it to the movie world – but willing to make it happen. However, the company claims that it will only do so when it is sure that the transition will have the quality associated with its name.
In an interview with MCV UK, Activision’s head of Consumer Products, Tim Kilpin, explained that the process of adaptation has to be done carefully. “If the script and story are not right, we will not do it; is not one of those situations where someone is saying ‘I do not care, just do it’; this is not what happens, “he explained.
“We think that if done well it has the opportunity to expand our audience beyond the traditional foundation to whom the game has appeal,” added Kilpin. According to him, a film would have the potential to expand a little more the range of the series, which usually has a mature classification in its packaging.
“As a mature ranked game, it’s a focused audience and we think there’s an opportunity to reach a slightly larger audience; if the story was well done, that’s the key, “he said. And you, I would like to see Call of Duty in the movies? Leave your opinion on the subject in our comments section.
