The director of marketing content of Twitch was commissioned to make public the spectacular data.
The start of the Overwatch League was presumed as something that could gather many fans, but few imagined that the number could be as high as that of the more than 415,000 simultaneous viewers that were recorded at some moments as the peak of the first day of These Overwatch tournaments.
“It is a much higher figure than anyone could expect,” warned Ben Goldhaber, director of marketing content for Twitch and well-known commentator who is, precisely, who warned of the spectacular numbers.
The event, which in its first round-faced Dallas Fuel with Seoul Dynasty, was held at an hour close to midnight in Europe which gives more merit to these numbers. In addition, the data does not include viewers who followed the activity through the emissions of Chinese websites, nor those who did the same with the app or the MLG website of Activision.
